| Musica Sveciae | The Ballad of Marshal Stig´s Daughters inspired Ludvig Jospehson and Agust Söderman with a fascinating drama, first performed at the Stockholm Opera in 1866. The scene is Norway in about 1290, and Marshal Stig´s daughters in exile find themselves in the middle of the contest between King and Church – and love. In this recording, for the first time ever, Söderman´s incidental music is palyed in its entirety and in its stage context, with excerpts from the drama performed by actors from the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. |
