Sweden's foremost piano composer of the early Romantic period was Jacob Adolf Hägg. Perhaps too the most idiosyncratic of personalities. Despite years of prostrating illness he achieved a many-sided output which includes both exquisite miniatures and lyrical grandiloquence.
