Musica Sveciae
In Johan Helmich Roman's day, the orchestral sinfonia was something new, a field for experimentation. Roman, "the father of Swedish music" was one of the early exponents. His sinfonias are among the best of his works, and therefore some of the most important compostions to have come out of the Age of Liberty in Sweden, as can be seen and heard from this variegated selection.
