Woldemar Bargiel was born in 1828, a son of Piano teacher Adolf Bargiel and Marianne Tromlitz, who also by marriage had a daugher named Clara Wieck. After a musical upbringing he entered the Leipzig conservatorie. Returning to Berlin, he took up piano teaching while composing and thanks to his sister and brother-in-law his works were published by well-known editorials.
