The incidental music to As you like it is the most extensive of Stenhammar's scorea of this type, and consists of 24 musical numbers. The acoustic effect to which the director alludes in the last lines of the quotation is evident in the very first scene; we hear the hunting fanfares of the Intrada from various different parts of the theatre. On this CD we hear 14 of these musical numbers in their original form. |
