Anyone who has sung in a church choir will inevitably have encountered some, and perhaps the majority of the music on this Compact Disc. The effect is like taking a journey through three Centuries of favourite Anthems, not least, three of the most famous settings of Ave Verum Corpus - by Byrd, Mozart and Elgar. Other works represented are: Tallis - O nata lux, Bach - Jesu Joy of Man’s desiring, Wesley - Wash me throughly, Franck - Panis angelicus, Jacob - Brother James’ Air and Walford Davies - God be in my head.
