Price: Sek. 100 Born in Split (Dalmatia) in 1892, Artur Rodzinski was one of the most popular conductors active on the international scene between 1930 and 1958, year of his death. Much admired by Toscanini, who appreciated his refined conducting technique, he reaped success both in the United States (where he conducted in Cleveland, New York and Chicago) and in Europe. Rodzinski was very popular also in Italy, and in the 1950s he appeared on the Italian stages conducting works from the Russian and German repertoires especially. Among them, this wonderful Tannhäuser, recorded with the excellent RAI Symphony Orchestra of Rome and an outstanding cast of Wagnerian singers, which includes Karl Liebl (Tannhäuser), Gré Brouwenstijn (Elisabethj) ed Eberhard Wächter (Wolfram).
