Dynamic Records
Disc No: IDIS 6443-44
Price: Sek. 75 (2CD) Our double-CD set features a series of EMI studio recordings made between the 1940s and 50s and, most importantly, an unpublished live recording of exceptional interest: a performance of Beethoven's Concerto in D Major dating, as far as we can tell, from the 1950s. That document, left in possession of the De Vito family, is today kept at the Musical Fund of Martina Franca's Istituto Paolo Grassi, which has kindly granted us permission to publish it. Gioconda De Vito gave numberless performances of Beethoven's violin concerto, a work she was very fond of, and had planned to record it for EMI, though she never ended up doing it. The present edition fills therefore an important gap in the discography of the great Italian violinist.
