Disc No: DACOCD 463-464 These 5 2CDset contains an unbelievable number of 26 Danish Violin Concertos, nearly all the concertos composed for the instrument during the past 200 years. The Danish Radio planned studio recordings during the 1960s and 70s with Kai Laursen, the concert master of the Southern Jutland Symphony Orchestra. It was an undertaking not likely to be done ever more. Many of the concertos were heard only the second time after their first performance and in some instances it was labourous just to locate the score. Only three of the concertos included here are not first recordings and none of the rest are ever likely to be recorded again before long.
