Disc No: 8.224168 Ib Nørholm is one of the most significant living Danish composers. With his contemporary colleagues Per Nørgård and Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen he guided Danish music into the post-war-avantgarde, and like the other two he abandoned the standard avant-garde techniques for a personal idiom which has since formed a model. Ib Nørholm is one of this century's most important Danish symphonists (to date he has composed ten very different symphonies), and he has also composed substantial music drama works. His vocal works brought melodic renewal to the Danish tradition in this genre.
