Disc No: 8.224104 Poul Schierbeck (1888-1949), if anyone, was the man who continued the style of Carl Nielsen in Danish music. He studied privately with Nielsen, whose musical approach he developed further with a sensitive hand. The results of his work were mostly songs (both Lieder and more popular songs), many cantatas and then the significant and very elegant opera Fête galante. In addition he composed music for films. His orchestral music benefits greatly from his excellent orchestration.
