Caprice Records
Disc No: CAP 21384
Price: Sek. 175 Up to now, symphonic wind music has has rather a thin deal where Swedish record releases are concerned and so Caprice and the Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra are producing three CDs almost in one go. Our aim is to demonstrate the breadth of the symphonic wind repertoire - in time, space and forces - and to acquaint listeners with the fascinating tonal world of the big wind orchestra. It is also hoped that these recordings will be an inspiration to Sweden's flourishing wind music sector, not least to the many young people who play in wind orchestras during their spare time. These three recordings make up a portrait of an orchestra in the midst of a dynamic artistic development. They reflect the Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra's concert policy in recent years, which has been to present original music for wind instruments under the direction of internationally active guest conductors and with high-class soloists.
