Avie Records
Disc No: AV 0046
Price: Sek. 155 Heaven to Earth could well be the soundtrack to humankind’s eternal desire for peace and reconciliation. The recording had its origins in a national radio broadcast on 11 September 2002, reflecting on the events in America one year earlier and laying out hopes for a happier future. One hundred years of sacred choral music is presented here, from the distinctive voices of Bernstein, Ives, Schoenberg and Stravinsky, to the beauty and mystery of Duruflé, Verdi and Vaughan Williams. The famous Barber Agnus Dei receives special treatment as the a capella choral version is accompanied by strings, evoking the work’s origins as a string quartet.
